ROP
Marketing/Business Occupations
This two-period (6 & 7) class
is offered at
Oak Ridge High School
ROP Marketing/Business Occupations is a full-year (10 credits per
semester) course that covers the basic concepts of marketing and
business as well as the development of an employability portfolio,
which includes creating a resum and a letter of application,
learning interviewing skills, and requesting a letter of
recommendation.
Students will
be required to attend a daily orientation for the first 4 weeks of
the fall semester. After this orientation period ends, students
will attend class only 1 day each week, either on Tuesdays or
Wednesdays, on a regular schedule. The remainder of the week will
be spent traininga minimum of 10 hourswith a business site. The
training schedule will be arranged and agreed upon by the student,
the instructor, and the business supervisor. Students will have a
choice of training with private or public employers, primarily in
one of three areas:

Students already employed in a Marketing field, and being scheduled
at least 10 hours each week, may receive school credit and earn
income at the same time in ROP Cooperative training.
Students, also, have the option of training in an
unpaid internship program; many get hired during their training
