Course Descriptions School of Business MARKETING OCCUPATIONS (Y) #0934 L1
This course provides students with the opportunity to develop business skills. After the initial classroom orientation period, students will combine weekly classroom instruction with hands-on experience in the community classroom by training with private or public employers. Traditional classroom instruction will cover the fundamentals of marketing that include product, price, promotion, and distribution decisions aimed at meeting the needs of a target market. This instruction will be supplemented with field trips to various business facilities. Industry specific training in the community classroom is available in one of the following areas: retailing, distribution/ logistics, or food services. For students who are currently employed in one of these fields, the ROP Cooperative option is available. This 9-month course integrates math, English, and business writing skills to better prepare students for successful employment in the field of marketing. The development of leadership and employability skills are emphasized throughout the course. Students may also enroll mid-year at the semester break.
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL MARKETING (S) (Y) #0934 L2
In this 1- or 2-semester course, the student will apply the basic principles of marketing to case studies and real-world applications by developing marketing and promotional campaigns. Students must provide their own transportation to class and training sites.
